Privacy policy

Hendra Hardware is a family-owned hardware store at 23 Zillman Rd, Hendra. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information. In this policy "we", "us" and "Hendra Hardware" mean the trustee of the VA & SA Pinkey Trust trading as Hendra Hardware (ABN 51 126 043 916).

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only collect what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include:

• Your contact details, such as your name, phone number, email and address, when you place an order, ask us to order something in, request a call back or send us an enquiry.
• Online order details when you order turf or Graceville pots on this website: your name, mobile, email, delivery address (for turf), the items you chose and any notes you add.
• Payment details. Online card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Email sign-ups. Your first name and email address when you join our email list.
• Warranty details. When you buy a STIHL product we may record your name and contact details to register your warranty with STIHL.
• Trade account details. If you apply for a trade credit account, we collect business, director and guarantor details, trade references and credit information. Our credit application includes its own privacy statement explaining this in full.
• Website information. When you visit this website we collect general information about your visit, such as the pages you view, your device and your approximate location, through Google Analytics. Our website security tools also record IP addresses to protect the site from attacks.

We usually collect information directly from you. You can deal with us without giving your name for general enquiries and in-store cash purchases, but we need your details to fill orders, deliver goods or open an account.

How we use it

• To process, deliver and support your orders, including sending order updates by email and text message.
• To send receipts and tax invoices, and to keep the business records the law requires.
• To register product warranties and help with warranty or service claims.
• To assess and manage trade credit accounts.
• To answer your enquiries.
• To send you our emails, if you have asked to receive them.
• To understand how people use our website so we can improve it, and to keep it secure.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share it where it is needed to serve you, or where the law requires it:

• Suppliers who fill your order. For turf orders, Australian Lawn Concepts receives your name, phone number and delivery address so they can deliver. For pot orders, Graceville Imports receives your name and order so they can release your pots to you. STIHL receives warranty registration details.
• Service providers who help us run the business, such as Stripe (card payments), Mobile Message (order text messages), Mailchimp (our email list), Microsoft and Google (email and website analytics), our website host, couriers, our accountant and IT support. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
• For trade accounts, credit reporting bodies, trade referees, debt collectors and our lawyers, as set out in our credit application.
• Where the law requires or allows it, for example to government agencies or the police.

Information stored overseas

Some of our service providers, including Mailchimp, Stripe, Google and Microsoft, may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We use well-established providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.

Our emails

We only send marketing emails to people who have asked to receive them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us in store or by email to take you off our list.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies, which are small files stored by your browser, so the site works properly and so Google Analytics can count visits and show us which pages are useful. This information does not identify you by name. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site, such as online ordering, may not work properly without them.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Online payments are handled by Stripe, our website is protected by security software, and only the people who need your details to do their job can see them. We keep business and tax records for as long as the law requires, and securely delete or destroy information we no longer need.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Just contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
