Features

Suitable for all lawns: May be safely used on all types of lawn including buffalo, kikuyu and couch varieties as well as lawn alternatives
Low toxicity pest control: The active insecticide in this product is bifenthrin, a new technology chemical that is of minimal risk to humans and domestic pets when used as per label instructions
Greener stronger lawns: Boosted iron content promotes deeper green and stronger growth. The thicker the lawn, the less chance weeds have of taking hold – they’re smothered before they become obvious and need treatment
Controlled feeding: Slow release of nutrients eliminates waste through run-off and leaching and prevents burning and surge growth
No surge growth after application: Traditional lawn foods release or ‘dump’ most of their nutrients within a couple of weeks of application, causing a rapid surge in growth that quickly drops off again as the food supply diminishes. Lawn Builder uses patented time-release technology to ensure nutrients are released slowly and continuously over a three month period
Low phosphorus: Grub & Insect Control has slightly more than 1% phosphorus (P), which means it can be safely used anywhere in Australia except WA, which has a 1% P limit for lawn fertilisers
Low application rate: The recommended application rate is just 16 grams per m2, not the kilograms often associated with regular lawn foods!
Size: 2.5kg bag

Suitable for:

  • All lawn grasses including all named varieties of buffalo, traditional couch, Santa Ana couch, kikuyu, bent, fescues and carpet grass
  • All grass substitutes such as dichondra (also known as pennywort or kidney weed), lippia, zoysia

Not suitable for:

  • Lawn Builder is not recommended for use on plants other than lawn grasses and lawn substitutes
  • Do NOT use on lawns within 2m of water (ponds, creeks, dams and drains)
  • Do NOT feed lawn clippings from areas treated with Grub & Insect Control to poultry or other animals
  • Do not use if the temperature is expected to exceed 30 degrees C – wait for a cool spell

How it works

  • Grub & Insect Control contains bifenthrin, a highly effective contact poison that controls a broad range of lawn pests
  • Lawn Builder is a slow release fertiliser that provides continuous nutrition over a three month period
  • Every granule of Grub & Insect Control contains Scotts patented time-release nitrogen
  • Nutrients are released at about the same rate that grass roots can take up the fertiliser so there is no wastage, run-off to waterways or damaging surge growth

How to use

How much will I need?
Grub & Insect Control has a recommended application rate of 14g/m2.
To work out how much you will need to fertilise your lawn:

  1. Calculate the area of the lawn in square metres (multiply the length by the width)
  2. The area multiplied by the application rate will give the exact amount of Lawn Builder you need
  3. Use a set of scales to weigh it out and then add it to the spreader ready to apply – do not be tempted to add a ‘bit extra for luck’ because over-application may result in nitrogen burningAs a guide:
of a tennis court is about 65m2
of a tennis court is about 130m2
An entire tennis court is about 260m2

How do I apply it?

  1. For best results ALWAYS use a Scotts spreader
  2. Check your model and make sure to set it correctly before you start (settings are also on the back label of the product)EvenGreen Drop Spreader – setting 8
EasyGreen Rotary Spreader – setting 29
HandyGreen or Easy Handheld Spreader – setting 5
  3. If you don’t have a spreader, make sure you distribute the fertiliser evenly over the lawn – uneven applications may result in ‘hot spot’ burning where too much has landed in one spot
  4. Apply to dry grass and water in immediately

When to use

  • Apply Grub & Insect Control when insect pests are first noticed in the lawn OR apply as part of your regular lawn maintenance program
  • Follow-up treatment may be required when pests are present in high numbers but wait for at least three weeks after the first application to observe how well it has worked before considering a further application
  • Avoid feeding lawns in cooler regions in Winter.
    • The release of nutrients from granules is controlled by temperature.
    • In Winter when soil temperatures are low and lawn growth is extremely slow in many areas, the granules will simply ‘sit’ there.
